This is Lake Tekapo, in the centre of the South Island.
With the small Church of the Lost Shepherd on the shore, and Mt. Cook in the distance, it's one of the most photographed sites in New Zealand. The icy blue color of the water comes from the glacial deposits of the Fox and Franz Joseph glaciers near by.

Queenstown is the exteme activity capital.
Nearby is the Karawau Bridge, where the world's first commercial bungee jumping operation started in 1988.

I had to give it a go...

When I tried bungee jumping before, I hadn't managed a very enthusiastic launch, and ended up descending feet first until the cord flipped me over (someone there, who though I'd done this on purpose, was most impressed).
This time however, I managed a perfect swallow dive 43m to the river below...

...a little too good perhaps. I slammed into the water and was submerged up to my knees.

A moment later, I was yanked upwards out of the water by the bungee - cold, silty water shooting up my nose in the process. Simon, wet

Simon, very wet.
