In our trip to Jordan, we cycled around regions between Amman, along the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea, and further south in Wadi Rum and Aqaba. Simon

Amman
This is Amman, our starting point.
It's Jordan's capital, and a city of 2m people.

We cycled through some amazing desert landscapes.

Our group generated a lot of interest from the locals.
Apart from a few toys for children, they don't seem to have bicycles in Jordan.
We had a lot of excited tooting and waving from drivers and a lot of children who couldn't believe their eyes.

Perhaps it wasn't just the bikes though - some of the villages we passed through don't see many westerners.
And Jordan's a Muslim country, where women don't get out much - certainly not on bicycles and certainly not with their knees showing.
