We had an interesting trip to Cuba - I don't remember having visited a country before where everything - absolutely everything - is broken.

Havana has a lot of character, especially with the old American cars.

It was also an opportunity to compare communist Cuba with communist North Korea.
We didn't feel quite so cut off from the world in Cuba as we had in North Korea. There's a little more freedom, lots more colour, even a few western cars on the streets, and a few tourists.
But like North Korea, there's plenty of anti-American propaganda.

Old car
I guess about 20% of the cars we saw were old American cars like this.

And they're so big!

And there are these extraordinary "home-made" Cuban buses - converted from lorries.
