Whistler is in the Canadian province of British Columbia, and it's a good spot for heli-skiing.
(90% of the heli-skiing in the world takes place in British Columbia.).

We're kitted-out with avalanche transceivers, given a safety briefing and board the helicopter.

The pilot flies us to location with fresh powder snow, and off we go...

The helicopter coming to fetch us.

Heliskiing in Canada involves the helicopter taking you up and collecting you at the bottom and taking you up again repeatedly.
In contrast, in Europe, you'd typically get one lift and gradually work your way down during the day.

The mountains around here are actually quite small - the helicopter took us up to peaks at around 2000m.

Compare that with the Aiguille du Midi cable car in Chamonix, France, which takes you to 3800m.
(Chamonix itself is only slightly higher than Whistler).

The snow was powdery, but not too deep.. Simon

..but still deep enough to give Shusheel a challenge on her skis
