These are a few snaps from our trip to the Maya Riviera
- the part of the Mexican coast that runs south of Cancun, on the Yucatán peninsula.

We saw this crocodile on the road just outside our hotel one day.
We didn't get out of the car..

Hotels - lagoon
The main resort in the region is Cancún.

The hotel zone is a 15km long spit of sand with a lagoon on one side...

...and the Caribbean Sea on the other. Hotels - sea

Jungle Tour
We took a boat out on a "Jungle Tour" through the mangroves of the lagoon and out into the ocean.

Further down the coast is Cozumel island, where we went scuba diving.

Mayan ruins
And further south still, are the Mayan ruins at Tulum.

They're surrounded by jungle on one side...

...and the sea on the other. Mayan ruins

The main building on the site - named El Castillo by the Spanish.

The buildings here date from the 13th-15th centuries and were still occupied in the 16th century.
